PLEASE HELP!!!
This is an urgent plea on behalf of a young boy. Please spread the word. "The Archdiocese recently received an urgent plea from the parents of a 16 year old boy who is suffering from failure of both kidneys. He is currently receiving dialysis 3 days a week and is on a list for a kidney transplant. The estimated wait on this list is anywhere from 1 to 5 years and his parents have been checked out as possible donors but were not found appropriate to be donors.
It would be greatly appreciated by them and, of course, by the Archdiocese if you could publicize this case in your parish in order to hopefully find a kidney donor for this young boy. The boy's blood type is Type O and this means that the donor must also have Type O blood (and also undergo further testing to determine the compatibility). Perhaps you could also include something about this in your church bulletin. Anyone who is interested in more information should call Diamond Prassakos, the Social Worker at the National Philoptochos Office. (212) 744-4774.

Synopsis: The film within a film in Ararat examines the often-overlooked Armenian holocaust (1915-17) in the Ottoman Empire. The story revolves around Ani (Arsinee Khanjian), an art history professor who is hired as a consultant on Ararat, an epic movie about the genocide being made by an Armenian director (Charles Aznavour). Meanwhile, Ani's 18-year-old son, Raffi, just back from shooting additional footage in Turkey, has a run-in with a customs official (Christopher Plummer) at the Toronto airport.

MOVIE ALERT! Especially to all you New Yorkers!
I received this from my friend up in Canada. The director of the movie is
Canadian (Atom Agoyan). Let us support our fellow Armenians, who like the
Greeks, were also victims of Turkish Genocide. Please pass this on. Thanks!
Friends,
Turkish Denial # 1: The Armenian Genocide never happened. Turkish
Denial #2: Our parents and grandparents deserved to be killed or were
unfortunate casualties of war.
For 87 years we've gone to our monuments on April 24 and told our children
our history . . . how over 1.5 million Armenians died - - the death marches,
tortures, rapes and pillaging.
For 87 years, we've talked to each other and not enough to others.
"ARARAT",the movie, is our chance to make sure that the world knows about
and remembers the Armenian Genocide. This is why the Turkish government is
spending millions of dollars to shut down this movie by award winning filmmaker
Atom Egoyan.
As with most movies, Miramax will be "testing" the film with a limited
release on November 15, in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto to see whether
or not the movie should be widely distributed and advertised. Three of them
are in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and likely to be located in Pasadena,
Glendale and the City of Los Angeles. If this movie sells out, the distributor
of the movie, Miramax, will release the film more broadly to hundreds of theaters.
In a plea to help raise the awareness of this under-recognized historical
event, we ask you, your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues, whether
Armenian or not, to see this movie during the weekend of November 15th.
By attending this movie, you are defending the memory of the Armenian Genocide
from the Turkish Government's ongoing attempts of distortion and denial.
For further information about the film, please visit:

It seems that there is an online petition that has started in regards to the Greek
Independence Day Parade…That being that most other parades are televised and the Greek
one is not. The petition is being sent to Congressman Mike Gennaris and some other
government officials.
